The categories shown on this website are: Landscape Wildlife and Plants Macro
But I also shoot informal portraits ( people and pets ) and informal images of events. If you are interested in these categories, I can send you some examples.
My aim is to show the essence of a subject, place or event - hopefully replaying the evocative image seen at the time. I don't make pictures, I see pictures, and have learned how to capture them with a camera.
I was pleased to be awarded Third Place in a category of the prestigious 2019 International Garden Photographer of the Year Competition. An exhibition of the winning images is currently showing at Kew Gardens after which it will travel around the country and abroad. I was awarded "Highly Commended" in 2018.
The Spring flowers in the Landscape section won first prize in the 2015 RAC Photographic Competition.
My images have appeared in the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) magazine, Kew Gardens Magazine, several editions of the Olympus Magazine, the RAC publication Pell-Mell ( for various events) and The Piscatorial Society Journal. Images appear in the 2018 calendar of The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust and 2019 calendar of Friends of Richmond Park. I was very proud when some of my shots of Richmond Park were used as part of a continuous loop at the launch at the Royal Geographical Society of the film "Richmond Park National Nature Reserve" presented by Sir David Attenborough. Some photographs of fish conservation activity have been used in lectures by a leading marine biologist and images of Kew Gardens have been used in lectures by the Head of the Arboretum, Gardens and Horticultural Services at Kew.
In 2018 I was awarded the Licentiate distinction by the Royal Photographic Society (LRPS).
I shoot for publication and for individual sale. A few images are available through stock library Alamy, but most of my images are for sale direct so please contact me if you are interested in any of them or you would like to have an initial discussion about a commission. Perhaps a favourite location with vivid memories you wish to capture and put on your wall, a special occasion to remember or a keen interest in a subject and want to have an image to hand? An informal portrait, or a fun image of your dog, bringing out the personality? Just ask!
For example, the photo of the Camel Estuary at low tide now sits on the wall of the owner's holiday cottage in Padstow. A couple of years ago I completed an assignment to photograph two chalkstreams for promotion and the private use by the fishery owners.
I am currently producing the photographs for a book "Chalk Streams - a Unique Habitat Worth Preserving and trying to complete the funding through pre sales of copies at discounted prices, or sponsorship.
